Supporting women to thrive in life
For Women CIC is a London based, not-for-profit organisation founded by women, for women.
Through various activities, which span from peer-to-peer talking groups, mental health and wellbeing sessions, mind and body exercise classes, group day trips (and much more)! We are dedicated to tackling loneliness and isolation and supporting women to not just live, but to thrive in life.
"There is something for everybody. It has helped me through COVID-19 to connect with others. I made new friends. I can share things with others in a safe and confidential way."
Inspiring Woman of
Born 5th March 1998, Damascus, Syria
Former Olympic Swimmer
and refugee of the Syrian war,
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador
Yusra fled conflict in Syria when she was just a teenager and made the treacherous sea journey to Europe with her sister, Sara. The engine on their boat stopped working mid-crossing and the sisters and two others jumped into the water and, for several hours guided the dingy to safety, saving the lives of everyone onboard.
After finding refuge in Germany, Yusra was selected to compete at Rio 2016 as part of the first ever Refugee Olympic Team. Yusra competed once again for the Refugee Olympic Team at Tokyo 2020.
Yusra was appointed the youngest ever Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency, aged just 19. She advocates for refugees globally through sharing her own inspiring story and has become a powerful voice for the forcibly displaced across the world.
"I want to represent all the refugees because
I want to show everyone that after the pain and after the storm comes
- Yusra Mardini
