Mental Health and Wellbeing
This area is dedicated to fostering emotional resilience, reducing anxiety and stress, and promoting overall mental wellness. This can involve creating supportive programs where women can connect and share their experiences, providing information on how to access mental health resources and support services, and encouraging self-care practices that prioritise both mental and physical well-being.
Activities may include peer-to-peer talking sessions, mindfulness and breathing exercises, and awareness-raising workshops that create a safe space for women to share and heal.

Despite growing conversations around mental health, stigma remains a significant barrier that prevents many women from seeking the support they need. Cultural expectations, societal pressures, and deeply ingrained beliefs often discourage open discussions about mental health, leading to feelings of isolation, guilt, or shame. Women may feel pressured to appear strong, put others’ needs before their own, or dismiss their struggles as unimportant. These factors can make it challenging to acknowledge personal difficulties, let alone seek help.

Additionally, many women experience isolation and loneliness due to life transitions, caregiving responsibilities, or a lack of supportive social networks. FOR WOMEN recognises the importance of creating a strong, inclusive community where women can form meaningful connections, share their experiences, and support one another.

By raising awareness and fostering a supportive environment, FOR WOMEN aims to break down these barriers and encourage women to prioritise their mental well-being without fear of judgment. Creating a space where women feel heard, understood, and valued is crucial for challenging misconceptions and normalising conversations about emotional health. When women feel at ease expressing their concerns, they can take meaningful steps toward healing, self-care, and personal growth—ultimately enhancing their overall well-being and quality of life.

Peer-to-Peer Talking Group
Sometimes, simply reaching out and having a conversation can make a significant difference in our well-being. Engaging in regular discussions with others provides a valuable opportunity to talk, listen, and connect, helping us process our emotions and gain new perspectives on our thoughts and experiences.
Through open and honest conversations, we often realise that we are not alone in our struggles. Hearing others share their own challenges, insights, and triumphs can be a source of comfort and validation. It reminds us that many of our worries and experiences are shared by others, which can reduce feelings of isolation and self-doubt.
In a peer-to-peer talking group, we create a supportive and safe environment where women can freely express their thoughts, concerns, and emotions without fear of judgment. Each week, we focus on a different topic, allowing us to explore a wide range of themes—from mental health and personal growth to relationships, stress management, and self-care. These discussions encourage self-reflection and help us see things from different angles, often leading to personal insights and a deeper sense of understanding.
By coming together as a group, we build a sense of community and belonging, reinforcing the idea that we are stronger when we support one another. Whether offering encouragement, sharing experiences, or simply being present to listen, every participant plays a valuable role in creating a space where everyone feels heard, respected, and uplifted.
We offer this activity online so we can offer valuable support and connection for women who may not have access to local support groups or who prefer the anonymity of online interactions.

Cook, Eat & Socialise
At For Women we believe gastronomy is almost philosophy….and much more than that. It is pleasure and sociability, the perfect moment to talk, share a laugh and strengthen relationships. It helps us tackle loneliness and isolation. Cooking and eating together can have a positive effect on mental health and wellbeing and social inclusion.
Cooking interventions are used in therapeutic and rehabilitative settings; spending time together in the kitchen encourages social interaction and teamwork and we learn new recipes or try different types of food collectively.

Sharing the kitchen creates a different bonding experience every time not to mention stimulates creativity and fun! Cooking opens the door for communication on different topics such as present events, future events, or something we may have seen or remembered that we want to share with others. We can share stories, build relationships, learn from each other’s mistakes and triumphs; and not only create the bonds that define us, but also being together in this way can have a positive impact on our wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness
We are dedicated to raising awareness and educating women about mental health. Our mission is to break the stigma around mental health by fostering open conversations, providing education, and offering support. We help women understand the impact of these challenges on their mental well-being and encourage them to prioritize their mental health, just as they would their physical health.
